Critter Bitters: Cocktail bitters made with toasted crickets

Created by Trouble Makers (Julia Plevin and Lucy Knops)

Drinking cocktails won't save the world, but eating insects might. Critter Bitters take the 'ick' factor out of eating insects.

One year ago today this Kickstarter got funded!

464!
464!

The 464 of you gave us the support we need to make our cricket dreams a reality. It's taken almost exactly a year, but we can now say that we have shipped out all the Kickstarter orders!

Along the way, we both left our jobs to work on our company full-time. Critter Bitters is just the beginning and we have big plans for more products.

Thank for your patience and support over this last year! We are now fully in production, so if you know of any friends, restaurants, stores, or bars that might want to try Critter Bitters, you can order them here: wearetroublemakers.com. And if you're interested in wholesale, contact us at [email protected].

You've opened your hearts and hands to us and now it's time for us to do the same! Over the next year, we will hand deliver 464 meals in San Francisco through Project Open Hand.

Stay in touch and follow our progress here and here!

So much love,

Julia and Lucy

Critter Bitters are coming to you!
over 7 years ago – Thu, Oct 06, 2016 at 10:35:40 PM

Hello!

About 276 of you are starting to get your bottle of Critter Bitters (the rest are coming soon, we promise!).

Take some photos as you get the bitters and start making drinks! Tag #critterbitters and @makersoftrouble on Twitter and Instagram

And yes, you are all getting a digital download recipe book with lots of way to use Critter Bitters. We are putting the final touches on the recipe book (we have very high design standards for everything we make so it takes longer, but is better!).

In the meantime, here's one tried and true recipe:

And definitely get creative. Critter Bitters work in any cocktail that uses bitters. We even like to add ours to chia pudding and iced coffee. We'd love to hear how you are using the bitters and what you think of them. Share your favorite recipe and tag @makersoftrouble for a chance to be included in our recipe of the week.

Just holler at us with any questions.

xx, julia and lucy
